I an an artist who WAS blind for 5.5 years. It was HELL & it was interesting & it was challenging & considering all the MD's said it would be for the rest of my life--5.5 years was not so bad...
I would really like to SEE this film! I guess I have til the end of July to get to Austin.
As one who was Once-Blind I have news for you: blindness IS an alternative way of experiencing the world. When I was blind, I met an artist who'd been blinded by a bullet in the brain--he completely turned away from art & became a wordsmith..a poet...as that one participant, ‘the visual concept no longer existed for him. It wass ‘dead.’
For ME--I was brain-injured by Acute Toxic Chemical Exosure & so determined to keep experiencing art--I went to studios & galleries with sighted guides who'd describe..touch what I could while the colors were being described to me...I even became a docent in a major museum whose collection I knew pretty well so I could get a lot of people to describe art to me..I KEPT TRYING to SEE & succeeded in getting my brain to wire & rewire...with a lot of work, alternative medicine, and DESIRE I got back my sight...& even after almost 8 years--every day I SEE is a JOY!
