Thank you for the article on the JAUS Gallery and discussion of artist-run exhibition space. On the DIY avenue, ANCHOR art space opened its doors December 5th, 2008 in Anacortes, WA, a northwestern portal of the US/Canada boundary. Anchor space is owned/operated by two artists from neighboring Lopez Island. Anchor is either breaking or disturbing conceptual ground exhibiting work not experienced in a gallery context in the area. Economics aside, this artist-run space intends to continue a focus on work that is inventive and will push the art dialogue around. At the end of this year as things unfold for Anchor, articles discussing independent forms for exhibition encourages us to remain open to exhibit the wealth of art and artists seeking exposure in an uncommon venue, even in this transitional economic time. Thanks. JCB
