I found the critic's comment unjustified. While it is inevitable there will be similarities among painters, I find Holly's work quite different from that of Damian Loeb, particularly in style. I don't see the blurring occurring nearly as much in Damian's work. In fact, I would be quicker to associate him with painter Eric Zener. In any case, there are whole movements in art where a lot of the resulting work clearly relates to its contemporaries, both in content and style. But it is what keeps art in constant motion; we feed off of one another.

I don't know Loeb's work, but there are many painters who play with the same idea. It's almost a genre.

This painting is a few years old and represents a small part of my exploration. I think if you were to see the work in person you would see a general interest in surface rather than image.

I can assure you that the work comes from an honest place, and this is the most important thing to me. Of course there will be similarities between painters.

Thanks for the reference, i'll look up Loeb's work.

Damian Loeb has been doing this for years. Ms. Williams' work looks almost exactly like it. What's up with that?
